Counterpoint Studio OÜ ("we", "us", "Motif") is the controller of your personal data. We keep this simple: we collect only what we need to run Motif, we don't sell your data, and we don't use tracking cookies.

Website visitors

When you visit our website we use Plausible Analytics for aggregate website measurement — which pages are visited and how people navigate. Plausible is cookieless, does not track individuals across sites, and processes data on EU infrastructure. We do not collect personal data from casual visitors.

Our hosting provider (Netlify) processes technical data such as IP addresses and request metadata as part of serving the site. This is necessary for the operation and security of the website.

Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating and securing our website.

Beta signup

When you sign up for the Motif beta we collect:

  • Your first name and email address
  • Your relationship to yoga teaching
  • Technical data: IP address and browser user agent, for security and fraud prevention

We use this data to manage beta access, send operational updates, coordinate testing, contact you for product feedback, and send you a welcome email confirming your signup.

If you opt in to product updates during signup, we also use your email and name to send you news and announcements about Motif beyond the beta programme. You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing us.

Legal basis: legitimate interest in running and improving our beta programme (for operational beta communications); consent (for product marketing, via the opt-in on the signup form).

App users

The Motif app does not require an account and does not collect your name, email, or other personal details within the app. The app does not access your microphone, camera, location, contacts, or health data. We do not collect or store any information about your students.

The app does not currently include any third-party analytics. If you have opted in to share diagnostics and usage data with developers through your device settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, privacy-preserving app usage metrics.

Who receives your data

We use the following service providers to operate Motif:

  • Netlify — website hosting and serverless functions (US; EU–US Data Privacy Framework)
  • Bunny.net — database (EU)
  • Resend — transactional email (US; Standard Contractual Clauses)
  • Amazon Web Services — app backend and content delivery (EU region; global CDN edge locations; Standard Contractual Clauses)
  • Plausible Analytics — website analytics (EU)
  • Slack — internal team notifications (US; Standard Contractual Clauses)

We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising.

International transfers

Some of our service providers are based in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (Netlify) or Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission (AWS, Resend, Slack).

How long we keep your data

  • Technical data (IP address, user agent): deleted within 90 days of collection
  • Beta signup data (name, email, teaching relationship): retained for the duration of the beta programme plus 6 months, then deleted — unless you opted in to product updates
  • Product update subscribers: retained until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent

You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Erase your data
  • Restrict processing in certain circumstances
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Withdraw consent at any time for product marketing, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal

If you are unsatisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our lead authority is the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon). You may also contact the supervisory authority in your own EEA country.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update this page and the effective date above. For significant changes, we will notify beta participants by email.
